09/09/2008 They think we can't tell the difference between Hillary Clinton (graduate of Yale Law School, attorney, lifelong fighter for children's issues, First Lady of Arkansas, First Lady of the United States, two term United States Senator, world traveler) and Sarah Palin (graduate of University of Idaho – after attending five other colleges, mother, PTA member, mayor of town of 6000, governor for two years of state of 600,000, one trip out of country.) They think we'll forget that they took the country to war on the basis of their own personal ideology, but sold it to us with the false claim that Iraq has weapons of mass destruction. They think we'll forget about the 4000 Americans who died in that war. They think we don't care about the 10 billion dollars a month of your money they are spending there. They think we are so dumb and deficient in memory that we will focus only on the "surge" and not the immoral war that made that "surge" one of the few options they had to control the violence which they unleashed with their McCain supported war. They think we don't remember that they dismissed multiple warnings of terrorist attacks before 9/11. They think we'll forget that hundreds of first responders and workers at ground zero are dying from lung ailments because the Bush-McCain administration insisted it was safe, even when told by experts it was not safe. They think we'll forgive them for the thousands who died in Katrina, for the lack of preparation, for the lack of response, for the birthday cake John McCain and George W. Bush ate while people drowned. They think we don't care about the tax cuts they gave to companies to outsource our jobs. They think we haven't noticed our shrinking paychecks which can no longer cover the cost of gasoline and food. They think we won't mind $4 (or more) a gallon gasoline combined with more tax cuts they plan to give oil companies. They think we don't mind living on the street, or with relatives, because we've lost our home to the mortgage crisis, made possible by the deregulation they love. They think we aren't bitter that our homes are now worth less than we owe on them. They think we won't care that they are using 200 billion dollars of our money to bail out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac but they won't bail us out when we default on a loan which their rich supporters benefited from. They think we aren't paying attention to the fact that Sarah Palin is embroiled in an ethics investigation in which she is accused of firing a man who wouldn't fire her brother in law who was divorcing her sister. They think we haven't noticed the warmer temperatures, the droughts and floods, and stronger storms, that we haven't heard about the melting Arctic ice and the rising sea levels, and they hope we are paying more attention to Sarah Palin's legs than her mouth when she says that global warming isn't caused by man. They think we are okay with a person a heartbeat away from the presidency who will likely put the final stake in the heart of the planet because she wants to continue drilling for oil to give residents of Alaska thousands of dollars, even as the carbon emissions from our continued use of gasoline-powered cars will continue to destroy the atmosphere. They think we won't mind if John McCain privatizes Social Security and puts our retirement at risk in the stock market. They think we will fall for McCain's "health care plan," in which he will remove the tax break for your employers who provide our health insurance, so they will stop providing it, and in return give us a tax break of $5000 to pay for our own health care which will cost double or triple that. They think telling us that Obama wants to put a bureaucrat in between us and our doctors will scare us into adopting their plan which will keep insurance executives and stockholders in between us and our doctors, if we even have insurance to see those doctors. They think we won't blame McCain for supporting the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy even though he said he would be against them at first. They really want us to believe that John McCain will get tough with lobbyists when lobbyists run his campaign. They want us to forget about what John McCain's chief financial advisor said – that we are all whiners, and that the recession is all in our own heads. In other words, they want us to ignore how much contempt they have shown for those of us who are suffering. They really think we will buy their comedic assertion that Palin has foreign policy experience and knows how to confront Putin because Alaska is next to Russia. They think we will believe John McCain really is different from George W. Bush, even though he voted with Bush ninety percent of the time. They think we will buy into Sarah Palin's claim that she was against the "Bridge to Nowhere" when she actually campaigned for it during her race to be governor. When the bill was passed, and the "Bridge" became the butt of jokes, she said she would not build it, but did not return the money. They think we will love the idea of Sarah Palin pushing for young girls to have the only "choice" her daughter had, the choice to continue an unwanted pregnancy. In other words, if my 13 year old daughter is molested by a family member, or raped by a stranger, and becomes pregnant, she will also be forced to "choose" what Sarah Palin's daughter "chose." They also hope we won't notice how McCain and Palin want to change the curriculum in our schools. Instead of teaching comprehensive sex education that might prevent pregnancies, they want to teach abstinence-only education which as we know worked real well for Sarah Palin's daughter. They also want to abandon hundreds of years of science and teach creationism. They think we'll vote for the white guy just because he's white; they think we're racist. They think they can convince us that they are really going to change things in Washington, that they aren't from the same party that got us into every mess we are currently in. They think they can distract us from the truth with a focus on thirty five years ago, when one of them was shot down in Vietnam, and a pretty face, who has no knowledge of any issues other than oil. Most of all they hope we won't notice how much John McCain has agreed with all the major Bush policies ( the war, the economy, tax cuts for the wealthy and nada for everyone else, Social Security privatization, deregulation, domestic spying, tough talk with Iran, etc.) and adopted the Bush values (lying, cheating, stealing, distracting, smearing, fearmongering, and pandering.) I refuse to believe 51% of us are that dumb. We should be insulted that they think we are. All content © 2005 outragedcitizen.com |
